SENDMAIL: HTML email doesn't always show, - Here is my work-around

by Gordon Hsu, January 29, 2004 12:33

Louis,

Since there is no way to know if your clients have capacity to read HTML format e-mail or not, you will have to pre-determine and send it separately. Here is my proposed work-around:

1. Add addtional column in your "person" table, let's call it "mail_type" where it is 0 for regualr e-mail, 1 for html email. 2. Add following code:

<!--SELECT * FROM Person --> <!--EACHROW --> <!--IF $mail_type$ = 0 --> <!--SENDEMAIL SERVER=mail.my.com, FROM=me@my.com, TO=$EMail$, SUBJECT=The Subject --> The Body text without HTML tag <!--ENDMAIL --> <!--ELSE --> <!--SENDEMAIL SERVER=mail.my.com, FROM=me@my.com, TO=$EMail$, SUBJECT=The Subject, HTML --> The Body text with HTML tag <!--ENDMAIL --> <!--ENDIF --> <!--ENDROW -->

Hope this will help.

Gordon
